Welcome to JP Grimard Clinical Counselling

I am an EMDR trained Registered Clinical Counsellor with over 17 years experience working in addiction services and mental health, as a Clinical Counsellor and also as a Clinical Supervisor. I have recently moved back to Winnipeg, where I am continuing my passion of doing one to one clinical work. I have worked extensively in addictions, mental health, couples counselling, grief and loss, trauma, gender identity and within the 2SLGBTQQIA+ (two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, and all other sexual orientations and genders) community

Working primarily from an EMDR, Solution Focused and Narrative lens, I have also worked with DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Family Systems, Motivational Interviewing and Imago Therapy for Couples Counselling.

The word Renge from the chant Nam Myoho Renge Kyo, means Lotus in Japanese. It is a flower that grows in the deepest and darkest of mud. This represents our potential to bloom against adversity. That regardless of darkness, there is always hope. That winter can always turn to spring.

  • “No matter how long the cold, bleak days of winter may continue, winter always turns to spring. As long as we hold on to hope, spring is sure to come.” - Nichiren
